World No. 5 ends Dasha’s Toronto run in the second round

August 9, 2017

It took almost two hours to define the winner of the second round match at Rogers Cup in Toronto and eventually Dasha lost this battle to the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina 6-7(4) 4-6.

Each player made four breaks in the first set and the winner was decided at the tie-break which was taken by Svitolina. To Dasha’s credit, she managed to save the set at Svitolina’s serve twice. At the beginning of the second set Dasha grasped the 4-0 lead but Svitolina managed to rise and won six games in a row. Thus, the Ukrainian won the second consecutive match against Dasha.

Next week Dasha will play at another Premier 5 tournament in Cincinnati.
