Daria Kasatkina defeated the fellow Russian Elena Vesnina in the quarterfinal of Dubai: 7-6(5) 6-1.
Both players won two break-points in the first set and the winner was decided at the tie-break. The thirteenth game was also marked by a fair contest. However, Dasha played slightly better in the end and being 3-5 down she managed to win four points in a row. In the contrast to the first set, the second was marked by a total dominance of Dasha and Vesnina managed to win only a single game.
This is Dasha’s second semi-final at Premier tournaments this season and her next opponent is World No. 3 Garbine Muguruza from Spain. It will be the third match between the players. The Spaniard won two previous matches which took place in 2015 on clay and in 2017 on hard.
