August 29, 2018

Dasha defeated the Hungarian Timea Babos in the first round of US Open: 6-4 5-7 6-4.

Both players had 100% conversion rate of their break-point opportunities in the opening set. Babos did it the first and grabbed a 4-1 lead, but Dasha managed to win five games in a row (including two break-points on her opponent’s serve). Babos also took the lead in the second set but Dasha levelled the score after being 2-5 down. However the Hungarian won another break-point in the twelfth game and turned the match into the decisive set.

Again Dasha had to fight back and level the score. Fortunately, she won four games in a row after being 2-4 down and sealed her place in the second round. The match had lasted for two hours and twenty-one minutes whereas Dasha served four aces, made four double faults and won six games on Babos’ serve.

Dasha’s opponent in the second round is the Belorussian Aliaksandra Sasnovich who is currently World No. 33 in the WTA ranking. The players have met four times and Dasha won three previous matches.
