The first clay tournament of the season appeared to be brilliant for Dasha!
Six consecutive victories let her win a prestigious and maiden WTA title at Premier tournament in Charleston. Daria confidently defeated Jelena Ostapenko before making the last step on her way to triumph. The Latvian only managed to win four games: 6-3 6-1. The final match of the tournament lasted a bit longer than an hour and Dasha managed to serve one ace, made two double faults and won five games on her opponent’s serve.
"It's very difficult to describe my feeling now," she said in her post-victory press conference. "I feel I'm just sleeping and everything is not real. I'm so happy. Really. Yesterday evening and all night I couldn't sleep. I woke up during the whole night like two or three times. I was so nervous, you cannot imagine. I was feeling like, I want to just go on the court and everything let's finish, play. I cannot feeling this anymore. But now it was worth it."
Dasha defeated Danka Kovinic, Monica Puig, Daria Gavrilova, Irina-Camelia Begu and Laura Siegemund on her way to victory in Charleston. This title moves Daria Kasatkina back to the Top 30 as she will jump over 13 positions in the new WTA ranking.
