It took Dasha about 90 minutes to defeat the American Christina Mchale in the second round of US Open: 7-5 6-3.
The first four games of the first set were equal and each player won her own serve. Everything turned upside down in the following seven games when neither of players managed to secure her own serve. Fortunately, Dasha had more breaks and then served for the set in the twelfth game.
The second set was marked by Dasha’s confident play on her own serve (without losing a single game). Besides, she also made two breaks eventually securing the overall victory.
Daria will play against the winner of Rolland Garros 2017 Elena Ostapenko from Latvia in the third round. It will be the fourth time the players meet on the court. Ostapenko won twice, but this year Dasha managed to defeat the Latvian upon their last match in the final of the Premier tournament in Charleston.
