Daria Kasatkina reaches the third round of Roland Garros for the second consecutive year

Dasha’s second round match had lasted for 1 hour and 21 minutes and eventually she sealed a victory (7-6(1) 6-4) over the 17-year old Marketa Vondrousova from the Czech Republic who got to the main draw through the qualification. 

Both players made one break each at the beginning of the first set and starting with 2-2 each player was winning the game on her own service. The winner of the first set was decided at the tie-break during which Dasha lost only one point. Dasha made three breaks on Vondrousova’s serve in the second set whereas her opponent managed to make only two breaks. Dasha was serving for the match in the tenth game and sealed her victory at the second match point. 

Dasha reaches the third round of Roland Garros for the second consecutive year (out of her two appearances in Paris) and this time she will play against the 3rd seed and world No. 4 – Simona Halep from Romania. Last year the Romanian won their first match on the hard courts of Miami.
