Dasha defeated the World No. 2 Caroline Wozniacki in the fourth round of Rolland Garros: 7-6(5) 6-3. The match had started yesterday but it was postponed due to the darkness upon the 7-6 3-3 score. Today Dasha won three games in a row and advanced to her maiden quarterfinal at the Grand Slam tournament.
The players had spent a bit less than two hours on court whereas Dasha served an ace, made six double-faults and won four out of ten break-points on her opponent’s serve.
“I was really worried in the beginning. I have never played at Philippe Chatrier before and that’s why I made those three consecutive double-faults. But then I managed to pull myself together and find the rhythm. I am pleased that it took only two sets to seal the victory”, said Dasha after the match.
Dasha’s opponent on the way to the semi-final is the seed No. 10 from the USA – Sloane Stephens. It will be the third match between the players and their current head-to-head record is equal: 1-1. Back in 2016, Dasha lost to the American in Charleston. However, she managed to defeat Stephens a couple of months ago in the third round of BNP Paribas Open.
