April 9, 2017

Dasha got her fifth consecutive victory at Premier tournament in Charleston and reached WTA final for the first time in her entire career. The semi-final battle against the German Laura Siegemund had lasted for 2 hours and 18 minutes and ended with Dasha’s victory: 3-6 6-2 6-1.

The German managed to win three games on Dasha’s serve in the first set. The break in the eighth game and further securing of her own serve let Siegemund take the lead in the match. The crucial moment of the whole match happened in the second set when the score was 2-2. Dasha confidently won her own serve and then managed to break Siegemund’s serve in a long-lasting game. After that she won seven games in a row. The German only managed to take the consolation game and it was her maximum this evening.

Dasha defeated Siegemund for the fourth time and she is now waiting for her opponent in the final of Volvo Car Open – the winner of the match between No. 11 seed Mirjana Lucic-Baroni from Croatia and the Latvian Elena Ostapenko.
