Dasha defeated Ashleigh Barty from Australia, World No. 17, in the third round of Wimbledon: 7-5 6-3.
Barty won a break-point at the beginning of the first set and grasped a 4-1 lead. But Dasha managed to pull herself together and won six games out of the following seven. Dasha won another three break-points in the second set and sealed her place in the fourth round of Wimbledon.
“She served really well and used low slices which are especially dangerous on grass. At first I could not adapt to such game but eventually I did it. Moreover, I was a bit nervous at the beginning as it was the opening match of the day”, said Dasha after the match.
Dasha’s opponent on the way to the quarterfinal is the World No. 47 from Belgium Alison Van Uytvanck. The Belgian has already defeated the reigning champion Garbine Muguruza in the second round. Dasha and Alison met last week in Eastbourne and Dasha managed to defeat the Belgian in three sets.
