October 4, 2017

Dasha defeated World No. 11 Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland in the third round of China Open: 4-6 7-5 6-2. After a loss in the first set, Dasha was a game away from losing the whole match as Radwanska was leading 5-4 in the second set. However, Dasha managed to win three games in a row and the winner was to be defined in the decisive set. Daria grasped complete control over the third set and let her opponent win only two games.

The first match between the players lasted for two hours and thirty-two minutes. Dasha served three aces, made six double faults and won eight break points out of fifteen. Besides, Dasha’s victory is also significant by the fact that Agnieszka Radwanska won this tournament last year.

Daria’s opponent in her second quarterfinal at Premier Mandatory tournaments is World No. 2 Simona Halep. It will be the fourth match between the players. The Romanian won two first matches whereas Daria managed to beat Halep during their last meeting which took place in Wuhan last week.
