Daria Kasatkina becomes a finalist of Kremlin Cup and ends the season being World No. 25

October 21, 2017

Dasha lost the decisive match of the last Premier tournament of the season to the German Julia Goerges: 1-6 2-6. The match lasted for a bit more than an hour and Dasha served six aces, made two double faults and did not manage to win any of three break points on her opponent’s serve. Moreover, Goerges played much better on Dasha’s serve and won two break points in each set.

“Goerges played really well and very aggressively. In fact, I could do almost nothing in such a match. I definitely wanted to win but she desired it even more”, said Dasha after the final match.

Reaching the final in Moscow made Dasha World No. 25 – the position which is only a place lower than her personal best. This year Dasha won her maiden singles WTA title, sealing her victory at a Premier tournament on the clay courts of Charleston. Besides, she also reached the doubles final at Premier tournament in Tokyo (pairing with Daria Gavrilova).
