Daria Kasatkina advances to the second round of US Open

August 31, 2017

Having defeated the Chinese Wang Qiang 6-7(7) 6-2 6-3 in her first match at the last major of the season in New York, Dasha managed to avenge the last year loss to the Chinese at the previous US Open.

Dasha took the initiative after losing the tough first set and completely controlled the game in the following two sets. Having spent 2 hours and 10 minutes on the court, Daria served one ace, made seven double faults and won six out of nine break points on her opponent’s serve.

Daria will meet the American Christina Mchale in the second round. Mchale also played three sets in her opening match and eventually defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova from Russia. This will be the first match between the players.
